Ochrymowce – village on the Gnizna river. Until the World War II it was situated in Zbaraż district, Tarnopol voivodeship, Poland. First historical mention in 1463. In the mid-16th to the early 17th century village was often destroyed due to the Turkish-Tatar invasions. At the end of 1890s there were a folwark (large farmstead), shop and Jewish tavern; large landed property belonged to Stanislav Kozlowski . Kozlovski’s family built a one-storey manor and established park (end of the 18th century).

From the beginings parishioners belonged to the Roman Catholic parish in Zbaraż (13 km). Since 1923 year, it was the Holy Cross parish in Stryjówka (6 km), but still serviced by Franciscan Friars from monastery in Zbaraż. In 1936 in Ochrymowce lived 412 Roman Catholics (in majority – Polish population). People prayed in small St. Sophia church build in 1919, opened every Sunday and feast during Holy Masses. 

After the World War II Poles were forced to leave their homes and depart to Poland in its new borders. In 1945, these lands were permanently annexed by the Soviet Union. Then inhabitants destroyed the manor hause.

In 1946, during a fire, more than half of the buildings burned.

Greek Catholic church

Today, in Ochrymowce (ukr. Okhrymivtsi – Охримівці) live only 240 Ukrainian people. There are no Jews and Poles. The village is situated in Zbarazh district, Ternopil Oblast (province), Ukraine. There is ideal soil for agriculture. In the village there are monuments: Greek Catholic church (1891), Roman Catholic church (actually closed) and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk (1861). Caution! To the village there is very bad horrible road for cars... Close to the village you can see also hydrological reserve of local importance “Velyke boloto” – “great swamp” (44 ha).
